信任和自信是「一束光裡的兩種顏色」。

在工作上，受到上司、同事或客戶的信任，我們就很喜歡這份工作，覺得自己做的事有意義。受到信任，會增強我們的自信，不自覺地說話堅定，走路有風。

每一種人際關係都建立在「信任」的基礎上。
但是，它很容易被濫用。

 無心之過、偶然犯錯造成的失去信用，儘快解釋、道歉、彌補之後，可以重建；但存心欺騙或一再失信，或不肯承認錯誤，有過不能改，則受欺的一方即使不得不忍受，彼此的關係也將完全變質，如遭硫酸侵蝕。


赫爾說，過去的經驗像是為我們繪製出一份地圖，告訴我們哪些人居心不良，哪些人粗心大意，就像地圖上標明哪裡有高山哪裡有溪谷，而不是以偏概全，戴著有色眼鏡看所有人，說，「世上無人值得信任。」


心志堅強的人首先要能誠實面對自己。探索審視了自己的內心之後，他看出自己的優缺點，知道自己想要追求的是甚麼，立定務實可行的目標。


他不需要別人激勵鞭策，他自己會努力。他能保持冷靜、控制情緒，受到壓力也不慌亂。


他專心、自信，為自己的行為負責。 因為，人要先有自信，知道自己能處世、善待人，才能真的信任別人。信任來自誠懇，來自守信，來自確定自己可以承擔。
